A reed organ was replaced in 1887 by a small pipe organ, which relied on a manual
bellows or hand pump for wind power. Forty years later, in 1927, an 11 rank organ
with an electric bellow was installed. It was financed largely by a gift form the Milton
Morris family. [later in 1975] Hoffman's two-year, $28,000 project culminated in the
dedication Sunday, November 2, 1975. Organists have included: Miss Callie Phillips, a
student at the State Blind Institute; Mrs. Carl Mayer (Miss Louise Kreisle); Miss Lily
Staples (later Mrs. L. A. Juhring); Miss Kate Kichey; Mrs. Mamie Johnson Stoner (later
Mrs. G. C. Morriss); Mrs. R. A. Modrall (Mildred); and Eleanor Page.

FPC has had an organ almost from it's beginnings in
1850. A harmonium and then a melodia served the
church form 1854 until 1899 when the latter organ
was sold for $400 to the Moller Organ Company. The
inaugural concert on the current organ was on March
16, 1900, by famed organist Clarence Eddy. In 1960,
the congregation moved to Jackson Avenue, and the
organ was put into storage at Peewee's Warehouse
for 18 years, only being rebuilt when the church
moved to the Mesa Drive location.
